It’s ok to throw some shades a few times at your competition. Well, this time OnePlus did just that at Google.
Concerning the Google pixel 4 refresh rate issue, OnePlus put out this tweet:

We all love it when smartphone manufacturers go at each other a few times. Its fun and we get to know things we ordinarily won’t know about.
It’s clear OnePlus is trying to blow its own horn here. It claims it’s phone’s display is fast and smooth anywhere and at anytime. That’s exactly what that tweet shows.
The Pixel 4 downgrades it’s 90Hz refresh rate to about 60Hz when the brightness level goes to 75%. The factors that can reduce brightness is maybe when you have adaptive brightness active and enter dark room or a place with low lighting. You can manually reduce the brightness too though.
However, what’s even more amusing is that OnePlus deleted the taunting tweet just minutes after posting it. Thankfully, we were able to grab a screenshot just in time.
Thing is when this tweet came out, OnePlus deleted it minutes after. Why? I have no idea. Was able to ge a screenshot though 😂.
Don’t know why OnePlus deleted its tweet, but I have a couple of theories.
First: OnePlus phones don’t actually run at 90Hz ‘anytime, anywhere.’” that’s a fact now.
The OnePlus 7 Pro, 7T, and 7T Pro all can and are 90Hz display refresh rates. When the Pixel 4 refresh rate issue came to light, a quick test was done to see if the OnePlus phones also drop refresh rate with changes in brightness.
While the OnePlus 7T stuck to an even 90Hz in different brightness levels, it’s not as if the refresh rate does not ever drop on OnePlus’ devices. Another thing is that not all apps support 90Hz refresh rates and hence there are things you may be seeing in 60Hz on your OnePlus 7 Pro, 7T, or 7T Pro.
You can still force 90Hz for all apps though. However, OnePlus representatives once told us that it doesn’t recommend it because of battery drainage issues that you will encounter.
Looks like OnePlus saw a lot coming at them and deleted that tweet mocking the Pixel 4 in order to keep the pandora’s box of comments about its own 90Hz mode shut tight. Could also be the tweet was taken down as a friendly gesture. One towards Google, a company that literally creates the foundation for OnePlus’ Oxygen OS that runs on their mobile devices.
