Next year, iPhones could be banned in Russia.

Russia is set to go hard, as a bill is in place, that if passed, will see not only Apple iPhones, but other products with foreign applications get banned from the country.

The Russian parliament has passed a legislation on electronics that run applications already installed at manufacture. They will have to have pre-installed Russian software too.

According to the bill, electronic products like Smart phones, PCs, Smart TVs must be sold with locally made Russian software pre-installed. This means devices should have Russian alternatives pre-installed in order to pass for sale in Russian country from July 2020.

This isn’t the first time Russian is working to pass a law like this. They are known for internet laws that are rigorous. The last noteable one was just passed a few weeks ago which allowed officials with power to restrict internet traffic.
